Phyllis June Ord, 75, formerly of Westover, passed away December 2, 2023 at the Orchards at Fox Lane in Chester, West Virginia. Phyllis was born in Jane Lew, WV on July 12, 1948 to the late Walter and Cora V. Rogers Hicks. Phyllis worked for many years as an elementary school teacher in Monongalia County and was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa, a Professional Teaching Sorority. She enjoyed all things relating to children and their education and growth as individuals. Phyllis is survived by her husband of 54 years: Charles H. “Chuck” Ord, Jr.; daughter: Cassandra “Cassie” M. Ord (Sean Mentnech) of Morgantown; son: Chad M. Ord (Ashley Ord) of Bruceton Mills, WV; grandchildren: Colton and Cooper Ord; sister: Sandra L. Smith of Jane Lew, WV; brother: Douglas D. Hicks, Sr., of Hookstown, PA. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by sister Glenna Bleigh and brother Roger Hicks. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Source Program, 540 Fairmont Rd. Westover, WV, in support of a program that would be close to her heart: nourishing children and fostering their education. Family and friends will be received at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Rd. Westover on Friday December 8, 2023 from 4pm until the 6pm memorial service with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.
