David Alan Stewart, 61, of Morgantown, WV, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. The youngest of seven children was born on August 27, 1960, to the late Charles, Jr. (CJ) and Edna Stewart. As a child, David was raised in the Mt. Beulah Baptist Church in Grant Town, West Virginia. He grew up and attended Fairview and North Marion High Schools. He was an avid track runner in his early years and enjoyed playing basketball, and car racing. In 1978 David met Denise Rush. After a long friendship, the two began dating in 1982 and together they welcomed his only daughter, Symone Stewart whom he loved unconditionally and was extremely proud of for her achievements. In Feb of 1989, David relocated to Charlotte, NC where he was a supervisor for the OTTO industry. After several years, he moved back to WV and was employed at Manchin Carpet Center, in Farmington, WV. Among his hobbies, he took pride in gardening, cooking, and swimming. David adored his granddaughter Samiyah and to her, he was affectionately known as PaPa. He often spoke of how smart and talented Samiyah was and he was amazed at how fast she could run. Predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Charles Thomas, Michael Wayne, and John Edward, David is survived by his daughter, Symone Stewart, granddaughter Samiyah Miller, two beloved sisters, Edna Diane and Geraldine Carletta Stewart of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Marvin Lewis of Morgantown, WV; his lifetime partner Denise Rush, and her Mother Maxine Rush, who he knew dearly as Ma Mac and gifted her every Mother’s Day with beautiful flowers. David also leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends in Fairmont, Morgantown, and the surrounding communities. A memorial service will be held at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, Main Street, GrantTown, WV on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in David’s name to the American Association of Heart Disease
