Frank Ray Coombs, Jr., age 65, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 at Mon General Hospital surrounded by his family. Frank was born in Morgantown on April 27, 1950, a son of the late Frank R. Coombs, Sr. and Doris Murphy Coombs. Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion. He later worked as a coal miner at Humphrey #7 where he was a member of the UMWA. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed being outdoors, camping and riding four wheelers. Frank is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon Bower Coombs; daughter, Tammy Coombs and husband Ryan Hart of Morgantown; sons, Matthew Coombs and wife Jenna of Morgantown and Robert DeVito and wife Karen of Morgantown; sisters, Dotty Hunt and husband Jim of Clarksburg, Pamela Spadafore and husband Ronnie of Morgantown and Cheryl Drummond and husband Gary of Clarksburg; and grandchildren, Luke Coombs, Anna Coombs, Valerie DeVito, and Kohen Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Frank’s memory to the River Road VFD. Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 1 PM until the 4 PM funeral service with Pastor Isaac Harmon officiating.
