John Christopher Burnette, 60, of Morgantown passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 6, 2022 surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer. Chris was born December 20, 1961, the son of Edward John Burnette of Morgantown and Mary Catherine Nally Burnette of New Braunfels, TX. He was an avid musky fisherman. Chris also had a strong passion for hunting. One of his most memorable hunts was a large black bear he killed with his bow and arrow. Those that knew and visited Chris know that his bearskin rug was one of his greatest trophies. In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by his wife of 19 years, Shelley Burnette; his daughter: Tiffany White (Jonathan) of Morgantown; his son: Jacob Burnette of Morgantown; one grandson: Jonathan White II of Morgantown; his brother: Terry Edward Burnette (Terri Lynn) of Pinetop, Arizona; parents-in-law: Joy and Wesley Marshall of Morgantown; 2 nephews; a niece; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family and friends are invited to gather at McCulla Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 4-7 pm. A funeral service will be held at 7 pm with Pastor Ed Burnette officiating. Following the service, McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation service. Online condolences may be extended to the family at www.mcculla.com.
