Shelby Ruth Kirk Gorbey, age 80 of Mount Airy, Maryland passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 in Westminster, Maryland. Shelby was born on December 7, 1941 in Rivervale, Arkansas a daughter of the late Woodrow and Mildred Kirk. Shelby was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Gorbey in 2019. Shelby is survived by one daughter, Denie Gorbey-Creese and husband Robert of Mount Airy, Maryland, one son, Donald Gorbey and wife Peggy of Frederick, Maryland, one sister, Linda Knapp of Flippin, Arkansas, two brothers, Harold Kirk of Tyronza, Arkansas, and Jesse Kirk of Little Rock, Arkansas, grandchildren Robby Creese and Samantha Creese of Mount Airy, Maryland, Donald "Buddy" Gorbey of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Joshua Gorbey of San Diego, Texas, step-grandchildren Keisha, Alijah, Haven, and Trenton Walker, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Prior to her retirement, Shelby had been employed as a bookkeeper for WVU Hospital. She enjoyed reading, traveling, her beloved Corgi Rusty, and spending time with her family. Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Morgantown from 4-7 pm Tuesday and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service. Burial will follow at IOOF Cemetery in Enterprise, WV. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McCulla.com.
