Obituary of Lillian J. Eddy
Please share a memory of Lillian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lillian Jean Rexroad Eddy, 96, of Sundale Nursing Home, Morgantown, formerly of Shinnston, passed away from a lengthy illness. She was born March 17, 1925 in Exchange, Braxton County, WV, the daughter of the late Howard N. and Clara O. Belknap Rexroad.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Reynold Eddy, a grandson, Nathaniel Barnes, siblings C. Eugene (Grace) Rexroad, Frederick N. (Marie) Rexroad, Canna L. (Robert) Stansberry, and Shannon F. Rexroad. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by daughters Charlette Sparks, Carol Barnes, and Rebecca (James) Kessler, all of Morgantown, WV, grandchildren Jason (Jennifer Kendzior) Wright, Sarah (Steven) Barnes-Marra, Hannah (David) Barnes-Miller, Noah (Lisa) Barnes, Andrew (Nhat-Thu Nguyen) Barnes, Matthew Kessler, and Daniel (Syvanna Kyle) Kessler, 5 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Jean Rexroad, Leesburg, VA, Deloris Eddy, Akron, OH, and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
After graduating from Morgantown High School during World War II, she worked in factories in Fairmont, WV, and Detroit, MI, including work on what turned out to be the Atomic bomb. She was very proud of her contributions to the war effort as a Rosie the Riveter. After the war ended, she married the love of her life, Reynold Eddy. Her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the joy of her life. She was well-known in the extended family as a wonderful cook, especially renowned for her pies and cakes. She and Reynold loved hosting holiday dinners for the entire family more than anything else. She was an accomplished seamstress who kept herself and her daughters well clothed.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the caring staff of Sundale Nursing Home and Morgantown Hospice for their care of our mother.
