James William Sims age 82 of Morgantown went on to glory Thursday, March 11, 2021 at WVU Medicine. He was born September 3, 1938 in Morgantown a son of the late Abner Sims and Marie Smith Sims. James was retired from the Westside Telephone Company and was a faithful member of HOPE church. In his spare time James enjoyed working on automobiles. James is survived by his wife Naomi Irene Davisson Sims, one daughter Reverend Rebecca Marie Friend and husband Bishop Joe Ray Friend of Westover, two sons James Allen Sims and companion Denise Mays of Morgantown, and Ronald Wayne Sims and wife Denise of Morgantown, one sister, Joanne Watkins of Springfield, WV, one brother Earl Sims Sr. of Westover, 4 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Lynette Sims, two sisters, Erma Jean Cole and Roseanne Henry and three brothers, Abner “Jr.” Sims, Carl Sims and Bobby Sims. Friends may call at the HOPE Church, 519 Hornbeck Road, Morgantown on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 10:00 am until the 12:00 pm funeral service with Pastor Allen Donham officiating.
