Helen “Diane” Spooner, 85, of the Cassville Community, has passed away. Her soul was released on January 22, 2021, after a 13-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
Diane was born in Jenkins, KY, on December 19, 1935; the daughter of the late Carl and Helen Fleming Meade.
Diane graduated from University High School and attended Morgantown Business College. She was employed at Hando’s Market, Hills Department Store, Bailey Glass Factory, Monongalia County School, and retired from Monongalia General Hospital.
Diane’s pleasures in life were dancing, singing, listening to music, playing cards, and bowling. She enjoyed planning and attending the Bi-Annual Cassville School Reunion. She was an avid sports fan, following Mountaineer football, basketball, and waving her Terrible Towel for the Steelers. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends on her farm.
Diane is survived by her sister, Peggy DeCarlo (David) of Pittsburgh, PA; brother, Terry Meade (Anna) of Egg Harbor, NJ; son, Stanley M. Spooner (Tina) of Cassville, Clark Morris, Jr. (Barbara) of Coco Beach, FL; daughters, Pamela Spooner of Cheat Lake, and Toni Morris-Perry (Michael) of Bobtown, PA; grandsons, Mike Spooner (Kate) and Andy Spooner (Heather); great granddaughters, Addison, Andrea, Caitlyn, Emberly, Izzabella, and Abigail; and great grandson, Skyler Comstock.
In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her first husband, Stanley J. Spooner; her second husband, Clark Morris, Sr.; grandson, Gary “Buddy” Solomon, Jr., and son, Stevie Morris.
In honoring Diane’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral and McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation services.
Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association at 1299 Pineview Dr # 3, Morgantown, WV 26505 or the WVU Children’s Hospital at WVU Medicine Children’s Office Suncrest Center 1 Medical Center Dr. Box 8200 (Suite 350, Van Voorhis) Morgantown, WV 26506.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Evergreen Personal Care and Point Manor Personal Care for the wonderful care they gave Diane. God bless them all.
