Obituary of Rose Marie Barko

Rose Marie Barko, age 80 of Westover went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 5, 2020 at Ruby surrounded by her loving family. Rose was born August 17, 1940 in Morgantown a daughter of the late Lewis Loretta and Rose Oliverio Loretta. Rose had been employed at the West Virginia University football office, Citizens Bank, Shop & Save, and Dulaney Oil Company. She was a devoted catholic and a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Rose possessed a loving and thankful heart. She volunteered at St. Ursula’s food pantry and prayed the rosary daily. She was always uplifting people by sending cards to them. Rose is survived by her husband of 53 years Robert Barko, one daughter, Gina Slaugenhoup and husband Ryan of Westover, one son Bobby Barko and wife Terry of North Carolina, one grandson, Ty Slaugenhoup of Westover and two brothers, Sam Loretta and wife Donis of Morgantown and Lewis Loretta of Westover, special cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. The family request that donations be made in Rose’s name to St. Ursula’s Food Pantry, P.O. Box 18, Pursglove, WV 26546 or the Source, 540 Fairmont Road, Westover, WV 26501 Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane on Friday at 10:00 am with Father Patsy Iaquinta as celebrant. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery. Due to Covid-19, masks will be required and proper social distancing. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McCulla.com.
