To the Family of Larry,
You have my sympathy in Larry's passing. It made me sad when I read the paper and learned of Larry's death. I really liked him and we shared lots of things - being Vietnam Veterans, family, politics, and working together at Federal No. 2. In fact, we actually started "Red Hat School" together in Grant Town. Although we didn't communicate on a regular basis, when we did, it was important. Whether it involved veterans' events, helping a veteran, or just about "anything that was
pressing" and on our minds, we had great conversations and visits. He will be missed.

There’s nothing I can say about Larry that hasn’t already been said. Whenever he came into the VFW, I would devil him and he could give it back with a smile on his face. He was always laughing or making other laugh. He would go out of his way for anyone. Just an all around great guy. I’ll miss him dearly.

I had the honor of working with Larry when he and his fellow Brothers & Sisters from the UMWA came to Gillette, WY. during our Peabody Campaign. Peabody & Arch conducted their shareholders meetings and Larry was there to make sure they knew they could "Run but could not Hide".
I am so sorry to hear of his passing he will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. We served together on the Strauss for 3 years. He was a close friend of mine and we steamed together many times. We had time at the last reunion to sit and talk about where we were then and where we are now. He spoke about his ill health from working in the mines. I was looking forward to seeing him at the Reunion in Washington which was canceled due to Covid-19. I will miss him dearly. I notified some of his other shipmates in Washington State and they too remember Larry and are saddened by this news. We will all miss him and his sense of humor. RIP Larry..

Larry was an unforgettable man, and he loved helping his USS Joseph Strauss shipmates. I think of him every time I wear my Joe Strauss shirt, ball cap, and jacket, which I do very often and all of which I bought from him at various reunions. His voice was loud, strong, and convincing, always with an idea to help our group of shipmates, He will be missed! Sent from Mike Vaughan, Strauss shipmate May 1968 to Jan 1970
