Nehemiah Lee Kassay, age 47, of Daybrook, passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 at his home. Nehemiah was born in Fairmont on January 16, 1973, a son of Patty Shriver Kassay of Daybrook and the late Nehemiah Kassay. Nehemiah worked as a Distribution Supervisor at Dicks Sporting Goods and was a member of Bula Baptist Church. Nehemiah was avid in Clay-Battelle sports where he coached the football team, many of their softball teams, and was President of the Boosters for softball. His greatest joy came from following his children’s’ sports teams. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, and uncle who will be greatly missed. In addition to his mom, Nehemiah is survived by his wife over 24 years, Amy Goodwin Kassay; daughter, Caitlyn Kassay of Daybrook; son, Jacob Kassay of Daybrook; sister, Milisia Lybarger (John) of Core; brother, Michael Charles Kassay of Christiansburg, VA; niece, Ella Lybarger. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Nehemiah L. Kassay Memorial Fund, 1965 Daybrook Rd., Fairview, WV 26570, which will go to support local high school and community sports programs. A public visitation with the family will be held at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, on Thursday, June 18, 2020 from 3-7 pm. In light of COVID-19, it is recommended that people come and pay their respects, and kindly excuse themselves to allow everyone an opportunity to come.
