Mr. Swanger was a wonderful man and a very kind soul. I remember when I first became a teacher. I was substituting for Mr. Swanger for a few days. I had left a note at the end of that time that explained how the day had gone. He was teaching at First Ward at the time. There was a rowdy group of boys in his room and they had really caused me trouble those days. I will NEVER forget that he made that group of children write me apology letters. Not only did he do that, he also searched until he found my home address and mailed them to me with a note from himself as well. That is going the extra mile to teach children about RESPECT! He will be missed by many including your family!

I never thought I'd see this picture anytime soon. I am former manager (when about the time I first met him), now crew. Over the years I got to know Frank. Just a few weeks ago I just memorized what he likes to eat. Never thought the last time I'd ever see him would be through my drive through a week or 2 ago. My thoughts, prayers, and sympathy are with you all. We all loved this guy at Arbys and will be sadly missed. R.I.P Frank, one of the sweetest men I know!

Frank and I taught together at Westwood Middle School. Frank and his wife Terry has a great dedication to the school. Frank would be there at every after-hours event and Terry would volunteer daily to help teachers. Our 7th grade team was the dream team and Frank was such an integral part of our team. Rest easy Frank! We will not forget you!

Mr. Swanger never forgot his students. Whenever I saw him he called me by name and asked about my family members by name. He was a wonderful teacher and even better person. He will be greatly missed, but he has earned his reward in Heaven. My thoughts and prayers to his loved ones during this difficult time.

I may have been in the 4th grade, and I was doing chin up's on a bar at school, he approached and said I can do at one more than you can do. So I worked really hard to do as many as I could, it may have been 10 at best, then he asked me how many did you do again I said 10, mind you I was out of breath and my arm's where on fire thinking I got this, he went to the bar and said 10-11 that's it, just ONE more than me LOL. SORRY TO HEAR OF HIS LOSE BLESSING TO THE FAMILY. P.S. That guy could swing a paddle. MUCH LOVE GOD BLESS.

I was part of his first 7th grade class at Westwood Middle. Some of the private talks that he and I shared, helped steer me in to the direction of my later military service with the Army. He was a great man and always encouraged those around him to succeed. God Bless you Sir. (Joe Donaldson)

Fair well Mr. Swanger. (Fair winds and following seas) sir.
We were your first 6th Grade class at First Ward and loved the ride. You provided the young boys of that time a great example to emulate and helped us understand how respect is earned every day by word and deed. Many thanks for the teaching and training we received in those most important years.
Have a pleasant journey sir.

Frank was my #1 sub! He was a man of honor. I recall Frank telling me about the time he went by McDonald’s and the WV State flag was flying above the U.S. flag. He stopped in and made them change the flags. He was a good man!
