Please share a memory of Lester to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lester Lee Mullens, age 80, of Morgantown, WV, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Mon Health Medical Center. He was born July 24, 1939, in Coe, WV, the son of the late Emery and Mary (Russell) Mullens. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy S. Mullens; one daughter, Lisa Lipscomb, and three sons, Rick (Deb) Mullens, Keith (Wendy) Mullens, and Phil (Amanda) Mullens, all of Morgantown. Lester is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Brandon) Malone, Britany (Drew) Rubenstein, Justin Rosier, Seth Lipscomb, Morgan Mullens, Abby Mullens and Chloe Mullens; and four great-grandchildren, Briauna Malone, Lillah Malone, D’Anthony Hriblan and Lydia Rubenstein. In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Courtney Rosier, four sisters and one brother. Lester was a genuine, hard-working family man who loved The Lord with all his heart. Lester’s blue-collar upbringing in Cranberry Ridge, WV, taught him the importance of family and hard work. His childhood produced a relentless appetite to do more, which is exactly what Lester did throughout his life, both professionally and personally. After working at Metalcraft Engineering for 23 years, Lester opened his own business, LEMAC Mine Service, Inc., where he worked from its opening, in July 1979, until his “retirement.” In addition to fixing things, Lester loved hosting family gatherings with his wife, Nancy, golfing with his sons and supporting the Mountaineers. He loved reading his Bible and helping others. As a young father, Lester touched numerous lives as a selfless volunteer youth sports coach. Later, he was the most caring Grandpa to his grandchildren and great-children. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Lester’s memory to the American Heart Association, at P.O. Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241-7005. Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Morgantown from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday and on Monday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service with Pastor Jason Sheffstall officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McCulla.com.
