Please share a memory of Douglas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Douglas B. Clevenger, 71, of Westover, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Mon Health Medical Center. He was born on August 17, 1948, the son of the late Ernest “Bud” and Gail Clevenger.
He was a 1966 graduate of Morgantown High School. Doug faced many challenges in life after a nearly fatal accident in 1973 that left him disabled. He battled back and had many fulfilling years.
He worked at Blacksville #1 mine until his accident. Then returned to work as an electrician for both Blacksville #1 and #2, until his retirement in 1991. He remained active thereafter, until his declining health in recent years left him home bound.
He enjoyed countless camping and beach vacations with his family and friends. Doug spent many days on Sutton Lake with his fishing buddies. He was a board member of the West Virginia Sportsmen and Firearms Association for many years where he excelled at skeet and trap shooting from his wheelchair.
Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Carolyn Trickett Clevenger; a son and girlfriend, Lucas Clevenger and Melissa Kania of Westover; a daughter and her husband, Jill and Rich Eiseman of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Kayla Marie and Kinley Elizabeth, who were the light of his life.
He is also survived by a sister and her husband, Debbie and Dave Myers; and a niece and her husband Jackie and Tim Schimmel, all of Morgantown.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were a daughter Shelley Marie, who died at birth, and a nephew, Gregory Myers
