Not only was “Mr. Propst” a wonderful teacher, he was also a role model to many young teachers. How blessed I was to teach with him at Waitman Barbe. He set an example for all of us to follow. He never ceased caring about his students. May you Rest In Peace, dear John. I hope you realized how much you were loved and respected.

Uncle John was a wonderful man and I have such wonderful memories of him growing up and seeing him at grandmas house or at Aunt Bettys. But my fondest memories are running into him at the social studies fairs at the mall when I had exhibits and he took interests into what I was presenting even though he was not my teacher. Even as an adult he took in interest into what I was doing and how I was doing. RIP and enjoy being reunited with Aunt Agnes and the rest of the family.

My heart goes out to Mr. Propst’s family and friends. He was my history teacher at Cheat Lake. He instilled in me a love of history and a love of country. I ended up majoring in history and serving in the Air Force. He planted those seeds. Thank you, Mr. Propst. You will be missed.

The Propst family and the Talerico family lived on the same street in Westover for years. Over the years as neighbors i shared many conversations with John and was also party to many more between my dad (Joe) and him. I miss some of those good ole days conversations that took place with neighbors. I wish his family and friends peace and comfort and knowing that living “just up the street “ from his family was a real joy.
Sincerely
Tom Talerico
