Obituary of Marie McClure
Marie Eddy McClure age 95 of Core, WV died Monday, November 4, 2019 at her home.
Marie was born April 17, 1924 on Little Indian Creek Road, the youngest child of the late James Dallas and Bessie Newbrough Eddy.
Marie was a member of Lynch Chapel Church and a graduate of University High School, class of 1940. She worked many years as a dental assistant, and always considered that her favorite job. She worked at West Virginia University and retired there with 26 years of service as the assistant to the Director of Housing and Residence Life.
She enjoyed embroidering, reading, family reunions, collecting recipes, and walking with her friends at the coliseum, who all belonged to the “Over 60 Wellness Group” at West Virginia University. Because of her dedication to the program, she was featured in the December 1993 issue of Diabetes Forecast magazine for controlling her diabetes through walking. Above everything, she enjoyed time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Donald McClure of Core, and Janice Tidrick and her companion BJ Willard of Blacksville; grandchildren, Candace McClure of Core, Doug Tennant of Blacksville, and Heather Morgan and her husband Donny of Belpre, OH; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Wyatt Tennant of Wadestown, Ashlyn Hayes and Shelby Morgan of Belpre, OH; nieces Doris Webb of Arnett, Thelma Jarrell and Beatrice Trickett of Roanoke; cousin Wilda Lemley of Waynesburg, Pa; several grandnieces and grandnephews, including one special grandnephew, Billy Johnson and his wife Dorothy of Morgantown.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Chester McClure; a great- grandchild, Austin Hayes; four siblings: Pearl Johnson, Nellie Trickett, Nora Eddy, and William Roy Eddy; five nephews, three nieces; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Many years of her life were devoted to taking care of others, and she will always be remembered for putting others before herself.
