Obituary of Vernon Lloyd Pullen
Vernon Lloyd Pullen, 91, of Morgantown, passed away at his home with his loving family by his bedside on Sunday, August 4, 2019. Lloyd was born in Windsor, NJ on August 27, 1927 to the late Vernon Lloyd and Marion Taylor Pullen.
Lloyd served his country, in the United States Army, during the Korean War. Following his service, he worked as a traffic manager for Okonite. He was also the Mayor of Washington Township in Mercer County, New Jersey, a member of the Evergreen Masonic Lodge in Berlin, MD, ranking as a 32° Mason. He served the United Methodist Church in many capacities, and in many churches, as he and his family moved to different areas.
Lloyd leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Myrtle Louise Perrine Pullen; daughters: Dawne Betthauser (Steve) of Trempealeau, WI and Beth Ann Parks (Ed) of Morgantown, WV; 5 grandchildren: Melissa Connor (Kevin), Chris Woolverton (Laura), Doug Woolverton, Brian Parks (Katie), and Stephanie Crigler (Jeremy); and 8 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made in Lloyd’s memory to the Avery United Methodist Church, 1152 Cheat Rd. Morgantown, WV 26508 to help with lawn care and the church or WVU Children’s Hospital, 1 Medical Center Dr. Morgantown, WV 26505.
Friends are invited to gather at Avery United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 5:30 until the memorial service at 6 pm with Rev. Jenny Williams officiating. McCulla Funeral Home has provided cremation services. Online condolences may be extended to the family at www.mcculla.com
