Obituary of Stanford James Huber

Stanford James Huber M.D., an anesthesiologist and Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, May 29th, 2019 at the age of 73.

Stanford is survived by his sons Nicholas Huber, William Huber, John Huber, and David Boone; his grandsons Tyler Huber and Jimmy Huber; his granddaughters Rebecca, Jessica, and Taylor Huber, Sydney, and Andie Boone, his great granddaughter Ireland Mae, and nieces, Karen Beasley, M.D. and husband John and Kimberly Beasley; grandnephews, Jeremy and Anderson Broersma; grandnieces, Kaleigh and Chloe Holtzman

He is predeceased by his wife Joan F. Shortall, his daughter Jennifer Huber, and his parents Frank and Sara Huber.

Stanford was born on July 22nd, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1963, and was also a graduate of Colgate College and UMD School of Medicine. He was a Resident in Surgery at South Baltimore Hospital, and an Anesthesia Resident at the University of Alabama. Stanford also served in the USAF as a Flight Surgeon and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in San Antonio, Texas. He practiced medicine as an Anesthesiologist at West Virginia University Ruby Hospital before starting a private practice alongside his colleague Richard Vaglienti, M.D..

Stanford was a doting and compassionate father, grandfather, and husband. He was a man of varied hobbies, finding joy in outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and fly-fishing. He was also a very steadfast and dedicated individual, confidently meeting many challenges and unbending in the face of adversity, a quality that stood out as he battled cancer, the loss of his daughter and wife, and several chronic illnesses for many years. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

A viewing will be held at the McCulla Funeral Home in Morgantown, WV on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 3pm to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jennifer Huber Scholarship Fund, c/o St. Paul Lutheran Church at 309 Baldwin Street, Morgantown WV, 26505. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McCulla.com
