Obituary of Sanford "Sandy" Barton
Sanford J “Sandy” Barton, 62, of Westover died unexpectedly on April 27, 2019. He joins his mother, Hilda B. Barton, father, Julian R. Barton and brother, Brian “Randy” Barton in heaven’s eternal life.
Sandy was a devoted husband and father whose family gave him great pride and happiness. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Ann Guido Barton and two children, Dena Marie and Frank Joel Barton.
Sandy worked for the state treasurer, John D. Perdue, as manager of the regional office in Morgantown. Sandy was deeply committed to his job. He enjoyed helping people improve their lives by locating unclaimed property on their behalf. For the second year in a row, he helped generate more than $1 million in unclaimed property for the four counties he represents. Sandy also considered his boss to be one of his best friends. Sandy served as vice-chairman of the local democratic party since 2006 and received the honor of being named “Democrat of the Year”. In 2011, he was the recipient of the David W. Jacobs WVU Alumni Service Award. This award recognized Sandy for his lifelong service to his Alma Mater. Sandy attended Grafton High School and graduated from WVU in 1979. Everyone who knew Sandy will fondly remember his generosity and zest for life. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Memorial contributions may be forwarded to Huntington Bank c/o Michael Guido. Your generous contribution will greatly help with the continued care of Sandy’s son, Frank J. Barton.
