Heidi Saffel was a most creative and talented woman with the gift of communication through graphic design, art and usage of words which she knew had meaning and impact. Working until age 80 at WAJR she loved her work and her colleagues even more while her first Love was her family and children and friends, but she loved travel,performing arts, nature.history, Morgantown, West Virginia, The United States, the world and had great joy in living life fully. Not one to focus much attention on herself, she expertly created photographs, layouts, on air programming behind the scenes which wascsteadfast, reliable and made a difference.Heidi cared about others exhibiting eyes which sparkle led and a welcoming smile which beamed her generosity of friendship and kindness for both animals and humans.Her creative spirit was infectious inspiring those around her to strive doing even more. Heidibtrailblazed journalism with artistic adeptness like that of a Michelangelo and her results from her skilled craftsmanship influenced her community,listeners and readers.She welcomed new colleagues while equally cherishing those established and they in turn reciprocated that professional respect and love.Heidi will long continue to influence not only WAJR but all who encountered her or ever heard broadcast programming she created and designed reflecting the conscientiousness she had for her profession.Blessings and prayers to her family and friends. This future inductee into West Virginia radio broadcast hall of fame earned her right for honor and recognition and as we celebrate her richness of contributions and outgoing,caring for others recall the many memories we have been fortunate to share for having known Heidi Ann Saffel who also had family linkages to the Roosevelt family and cherished her childhood experiences in which they were involved,Her creativity, artistic expression, adventureness, innnovation and joy of life and others remains embodied in each of her children along with the love of their late father also a journalist Nat Saffel.1
