Obituary of Rosalie Pell
Rosalie Arlene Pell, 90, of Morgantown, WV, passed away on October 22, 2018 at WVU Medicine. Rosalie was born in Preston County, WV on September 16, 1928 to the late George and Laurie Pyles Cook.
Rosalie worked as a seamstress at The Morgan Shirt Factory, and later spent most of her time loving her family, finding bargains and collecting glassware at yard sales, and making beautiful quilts. She won many blue ribbons at the Monongalia County Fair where she was a featured quilter. In the later years of her life, she spent most of her time making yo-yo quilts and was able to share this skill with her granddaughters.
She was an amazing cook and thoroughly enjoyed cooking and baking for the family, who were never allowed to leave hungry! Of the many meals and desserts she made over the years, the family favorites were her hearty baked steak, the most delicious pumpkin pie, and black walnut cake with homemade maple icing. Rosalie absolutely loved to play cards, with Phase 10 being one of her very favorites, enjoyed talking on the phone, eating candy and Kentucky Fried Chicken, playing Bingo at BOPARC Senior Recreation Center, and loved gazing at her beautiful red rose bushes from her living room window while she sat sewing her yo-yos for her yo-yo quilts and watching murder mysteries or WVU football or basketball games.
Rosalie is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert K. Pell, Ralph S. Pell and his wife, Lou Ellen Pell, all of Morgantown; and her two granddaughters, Laurel Pell and Loniann Wallman and husband, Lance Wallman, all of Morgantown.
In addition to her parents, Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Pell.
Private services were held at McCulla Funeral Home and Rosalie and Robert were laid to rest at Beverly Hills Cemetery. Online condolences may be extended to the family at www.mcculla.com.
