Obituary of Betty J. Harvey

Betty Jane Harvey of Core, WV passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at home with her loving family by her side.  She was born on June 12, 1939, in Brownton, W.Va., to the late William and Dora Elliott.
Betty was a loving mother/homemaker who helped raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoyed and was at her happiest when she was taking care of children, taught Sunday school at Fox Chapel for many years, reading, crosswords, writing poems, singing, and especially spending time with her family. She was a member of Star City Christian Assembly.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years Joel Ray Harvey Sr. of Core WV; 6 children                             Joel Jr. (Tammy) Harvey, Pam (Gary) Ayersman, Mike (Anita) Harvey, Rhonda (Greg) Baniak,                     Mark (Kim) Harvey Sr., Barbara (Rick Ervin) Harvey; Grandchildren, Eddie Lemasters (Katrina), Donnie Tennant Jr (Amanda), Chad Tennant, Tiffany Whittaker (Brandon), Mark Harvey Jr. (Nikki), Gary Andrew Ayersman, Tiffany Ritenour (Ryan), Sasha Toothman (Brian), Cecil Ritenour (Ashley), Taz Ritenour (Loren), Joel Harvey III (Patty), Ashley Harvey, Miranda Harvey (Jon), Cassie Harvey (John), Baleigh Harvey (Clayton); Great-grandchildren; Eddie Ray, Damion, Tucker, Peyton, Dakota, MacKenzie, Kaydence, Nevaeh, Aubree, Aaliyah, Wyatt, James, Zayden, Alice, Lily, Kian, Bentley, Amara, Alex, Nora, Blake; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Granddaughter, Mandy Belich;            Sisters, Gerry Simmons, Pansy Wilson, Violet Elliott, Ruby Smith, Kathleen Lilja and baby sis;         Brothers, Arlen, Bobby, Frankie, William, Leonard and Gerald.

Betty’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the Amedisys Hospice staff for the compassionate care that was given to her.

Visitation will be held at McCulla Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 19th from 2-8 pm and on Thursday from 10 until the 11 am funeral service with Pastor Mike Myers officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery. Online condolences may be extended to the family at www.mcculla.com.
