Richard Albert “Rick” DeWitt, 64, of Masontown, WV, passed away at his home with his family by his side on August 31, 2018. Rick was born in Morgantown on March 16, 1954 to the late Marvin and Helen Fumich DeWitt.

Rick was a Westover Police Officer for a few years and then spent several years selling cars. He enjoyed going to Ocean City, MD where he and his family enjoyed shark fishing. He also enjoyed hunting and drag racing.

Rick is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Sturgiss DeWitt; daughters: Tanya DeWitt and Michelle DeWitt and her boyfriend Jason Matheny all of Masontown; son Ricky DeWitt of Masontown; grandchildren Sean and Charles DeWitt of Masontown and Silas, Cadence, and Ethan Matheny all of Lost Creek, WV; a sister Debbie Harrison and her husband James of Morgantown; a brother-in-law: Larry Shillingburg and his wife Kathy; nieces: Jamie Harrison and Brittany King and her husband Steven; nephew Josh Shillingburg; great-nephews: Walter and Chase; and close friends, Chuck Lott, Gary Neldon, and Charles Trompak.

In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother Jack DeWitt.
