Obituary of William Brannon Smith
William Brannon Smith, age 83, of Westover, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Madison Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born June 19, 1935 in Fairmont, WV, son of the late Clarence “Mose” Smith and Margaret Brannon Smith.
Bill was a United States Army veteran had been employed by Mon Power in the maintenance-machinist division and was mostly stationed at the Fort Martin Power Plant. Bill was a member of the Westover United Methodist Church, participating in both the Methodist Men and church choir. He was a member of the Morgantown Union Lodge No. 4 AF & AM and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason with the Wheeling Valley. Bill’s hobbies were steam and gas engine collecting and volunteering at the Locust Heights & Western Railroad in Clarksburg.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Lynne Smith of Westover and boyfriend Eldon Leonard, his son, Jeffrey Smith and wife Tracey of Port St. Lucie, FL ,and two grandchildren, Brannon Smith and Jacob Smith.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Grace Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Bill’s memory to Westover United Methodist Church, 28 North St. Westover, WV 26501.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover from 4-8 pm Friday and on Saturday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service with Pastor Karen Tate & Pastor Jo McCartney officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery with graveside military services conducted by the Westover VFW Post #9916 and the WVANG and Masonic services conducted by the Morgantown Union Lodge No. 4 AF & AM.
