Obituary of Richard Hormell, Jr.

Richard H. “Rick” Hormell Jr. of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at home. Richard was born in Olean, NY on November 3, 1954 to the late Vera Gamble Hormell and the late Richard H. Hormell.

Surviving are sisters, Debbie (Brad) Headley of Garards Fort, PA and Carolyn (David) Huffman of Fairmont, WV, as well as many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He is also survived by his feline "children", Frick and Frack.   

Rick graduated from University High School in 1972. Sometime later he moved to Louisiana and eventually settled in Florida. He was employed as a transportation manager for several logistics companies in Florida for 20 yrs. He moved back to Morgantown in 2006 and was employed as a customer service rep at the WVU Medical Center Pharmacy Department from which he retired in 2017.

He loved the Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

He ran in as many charitable and 5K races he could in the Morgantown and surrounding area. He was extremely proud that he ran in, and finished, the 26.2mile Pittsburgh Marathon in 2011.

McCulla Funeral Home has provided cremation services. Family and friends will be received at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Rd., Morgantown from 4-7 pm on Thursday, July 19.
