Obituary of Bruno Mandarano

Bruno “Pappy” Mandarano, 87 of Dilliner, PA passed away peacefully with family at his side on Saturday July 14th.  He was born in Newtown, PA on September 6, 1930; to the late Domenico Mandarano and Mary Mediate Mandarano.  

     Bruno was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was devoted to his catholic faith and helping others in need.  He was always available to support his family, friends and especially his wife and father in their later years.  

   Bruno graduated from Point Marion High School and was selected to the All-Conference Football Team.  He was a devoted member of the St. Ignatius Parish in Bobtown, PA and was instrumental in the construction of the church.  He was formerly a member of the Parish Council and Church Usher.  He also attended Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Morgantown, WV.  He served in the Military from 1954 - 1956 and is a lifetime member of the VFW Post 9916.  He and his wife, Helen, were self-employed owners of a Gulf station and a restaurant in Dilliner, PA. He also worked closely with his son, Bruno II, on numerous real estate ventures.  

     Bruno enjoyed watching and playing sports.  He was an avid Mountaineer and Pittsburgh fan.  He loved visiting family especially on holidays. He was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren and their accomplishments.  Spending time outdoors, doing yard work and cooking out were important to him. He will be remembered as a tough, hardworking, loyal friend and family member.

     Those left to cherish Bruno’s memories are his son, Bruno II, and wife Jonida; daughter Caterina Jobson and husband Chris; daughter Pamela Preskitt and husband Scott.  He has two sister in-laws Beatrice Prutilipac and husband Chuck along with Patty Mandarano.  Bruno had five grandchildren, who he adored, Sam Jobson, Kiriana Jobson, Justin Tanner, Chiara Mandarano and Enzo Mandarano.  He also had many nieces and nephews who he deeply loved.  

     He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, parents, Domenic and Mary Mandarano, brother Domenic “Mecco” Mandarano; sister Mary Barbetta.

   Visitation will be held at McCulla Funeral Home from 4-8 PM Friday July 20th with a vigil service at 7:30 PM to conclude the visitation.  Visitation will continue at Saint Mary Roman Catholic Church in Peace Hall, 3334B University Ave. Morgantown, WV from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday.

     The Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. with Father John DiBacco as celebrant.  Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors conferred by the Westover VFW Post 9916 and the WVANG, Camp Dawson.
