Ron,
My Marine Brother. We shared so many great times in the years we spent at Camp Lejeune. Ron "Caveman" as we called you , because you reminded all of us of that Marine that was always determined, strong as an Ox, Friend to those you shared your passion and love of country, and enemy to those who do not believe in America.
From the first time we met, our friendship bond was sealed forever. Although our beloved Corps took us in separate directions due to things beyond our control, we always remained friends.
As we left our duty to the Marine Corps, the Marine Corps, God, Country and family never left us.
Last year at the Race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, I will never forget this: I had not seen you in years...as I was in my seat looking over the track, I hear this unique voice and the way you would call out to me "Hey Marine!", As I turned around, knowing in my heart it couldn't be but to my honor and happiness it was you. We shared our family stories during the time before the race, along with the ups and downs of our service and life in general. What stories we had, most I had forgotten, but like your grip, you could never let the memories go!
Ron, No matter if it was years that went by and we did not see or hear from us, When we met you always asked how I was along with my family. During the years that we were stationed at Camp Lejeune, you would come home with me and my family took to you as well as they loved and cared about me. As I am looking back at the times my heart is breaking, for I will not see you again until it is my time to see you at the Gates of Heaven.
In closing my friend, No One could or should ever deny that you Loved your family. I remember that smile when you begin talking about your family and how proud of them you are. Every member of the family secured a special place in your heart and you loved them ALL and only wanted the best for them. If I could only be a little more like you.
Ron, I will never say good bye, but only I will see you one day. "Hey Marine!" protect Heaven and support our Heavenly Father like only you can, for one day we will be together marching along.
Semper Fi, God bless you and the family
