Obituary of Helen M. Mandarano

Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Helen "Nunnie" Mandarano, 83 of Dilliner, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.  For the past four years Helen fought courageously with dignity to overcome a progressive disease.  Helen was born in Morgantown, WV on November 3, 1934 to the late Joseph and Mary Pollock Pompura.

Helen was a caring, compassionate, devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Her devotion to helping others was unconditional, caring for her mother Mary, brother Joe, and father-in-law Dominick. She was always there to help her family and friends.

Helen graduated from St. Francis Catholic High School and carried over her strong faith to her children. She was a devoted member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Bobtown, PA and also attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Star City, WV with her sisters.  Helen was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, and a former member of the Rosary Altar Society.  Helen and her husband Bruno were self-employed, owners of a Gulf Station and a Restaurant in Dilliner, PA for several years.

Helen loved music and dancing with her husband Bruno, and was an avid bowler. Holiday celebrations with family were always special for her.  In addition, she loved to travel to visit her children/grandchildren and vacations to the beach.

Those left to cherish Helen's memories are her loving husband Bruno of 64 years, her daughter Pamela Preskitt and husband Scott, her daughter Caterina Jobson and husband Christopher, her son Bruno II, and wife Jonida. Helen has 5 grandchildren who were the light of her life.  She doted on each, Justin Tanner, Samuel Jobson, Kiriana Jobson, Chiara Mandarano, Enzo Mandarano.  Helen has one loving sister, Beatrice Prutilpac and husband Charles Prutilpac. She has three sisters-in-law Helen Pompura, Dee Pompura, and Patty Mandarano, and also adored many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary Pompura, four sisters, Margaret Slavensky, Rose Shepherd, Ann Walden, and Julia Sidwell; four brothers, Joseph, John, Andrew and Mike Pompura.
