Obituary of Virgie Mae Horner Arbogast

Virgie Mae Horner Arbogast, 94, of Morgantown died on February 10, 2016 at the home of her daughter. She was born at home on December 6, 1921 on Rush Run near Hundred in Wetzel County. She was the only child of the late Martin Earl and Pansy Marie Willey Horner. She graduated from Hundred High School in 1940 and attended the West Virginia Business College in Fairmont until marrying her beloved husband, Jessie Warden Arbogast, on January 23, 1942. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She devoted her lifetime to caring for her family. She was a faithful member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Morgantown for more than 25 years. Previous to that she faithfully attended the Trinity Methodist Church in Bradenton, Florida where she and her husband helped manage the Church’s thrift shop. She and her family also attended the Strongsville Methodist Church in Strongsville, Ohio for more than 25 years. She is survived by her husband of more than 74 years, Jessie Warden Arbogast and four children and spouses: her daughters, Jeanne Grimm and husband, Harper G. Grimm, Jr., Morgantown and Judith Harris and husband, David K. Harris, Houston, Texas and her sons, Robert W. Arbogast and wife, Kathy, Mannington, WV and Richard L. Arbogast and wife, Debra, Wheeling, WV. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Laura Harris of San Diego; Geoffrey G. Grimm and wife, Andrea, Lexington, KY; Jennifer Harris Ritson and husband, Martin Ritson, Hebron, KY; Sarah Grimm Harris, San Diego; Matthew Harris, Houston, Texas; Bryan Arbogast and wife, Mary, Cleveland, Ohio; Heather Arbogast, San Diego and Stacey Arbogast, Cleveland, Ohio. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren: Lauren and Piper Ritson, Hebron, KY; Andrew and Noah Anthony Grimm, Lexington, KY; Daniel Harris, Houston; Jessica and Samantha Harris, San Diego; Isabella Arbogast, San Diego and Leighton Arbogast, Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest son, James David Arbogast in 2003 and her great grandson, Tyler Keenan Ritson, in 2002. The family would like to extend its grateful appreciation to Virgie’s aides, who were instrumental in maintaining her quality of life during the past two years: Pat Taylor, who faithfully provided her expertise for over two years, Natalie Moore who brought good cheer during evenings for nearly two years and Donna Cottrell who brought fun and laughter for nearly a year. We also would like to thank staff members of Hospice Care for their care and support during the past months. Friends will be received at McCulla Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 pm on Monday, February 15, and from 10:00 am until the funeral at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 16. Rev. Randall Flannigan, Wesley United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.McCulla.com
