Obituary of Alice Jones Ballas

Alice May Jones Ballas, 95, of Westover passed away peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2018 at her home with her loving family at her bedside. Alice was born in Morgantown on August 31, 1922 to the late David Owen Jones and Anna Elizabeth McKinney Jones.

Alice worked as a waitress at the Hotel Morgan for many years. Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who enjoyed spending time with those she loved, especially her grandson, Andrew Dougherty.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Elaine Ballas Dougherty and her husband Michael of Westover; grandson Andrew Dougherty; brother Alfred Jones; sister-in-law Ethel Rabagia and her husband George; a special caregiver Alicia Murray; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Ballas; sister Ethel Maurin; and two brothers Harry Jones and William Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alice’s memory to WVU Medicine: Children’s, 1 Medical Center Dr. Morgantown, WV 26505 or the Ronald McDonald House, 841 Country Club Dr. Morgantown, WV 26505.

Friends are invited to gather in support of the family at McCulla Funeral Home on Monday, March 5th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm and again on Tuesday from 10 until the 11 am funeral service with Rev. Tim Halloran officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery. Online condolences may be extended to the family at www.mcculla.com
