Obituary of Frank D. Landis
Franklin David Landis age 83 of Clarksburg, formerly of Westover passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at his home. He was born February 7, 1934 in Big Chimney, WV a son of the late French Ford Landis and Sylvia Marie Ashbury Landis.
Frank served with the United States Army and then was employed by West Virginia University in the sheet metal shop. Frank enjoyed being a member of the Western Stars Square Dancers Club and was caller for various groups in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. He was active in the Westover community, participating in the senior bowling leagues at Sycamore Lanes and the Westover Senior Center. Frank was also active in Mended Hearts Organization at the hospital.
Frank is survived by two daughters, Brenda Landis of Westover and Lisa Hutson and husband Paul of Clarksburg, grandchildren, Hannah Jayne Daniel and husband Andrew, Rachel Anne Babb and husband Austin, Benjamin Allen Hutson, Matthew Dillon Hutson, and Ronald Jay Ponceroff and wife Tracy, two sisters, Barbara Jean Malcomb and Shirley Marie Migon both of Clarksburg, a brother, Ronald Eugene Landis of Arizona, and a great grandson, Tanner Ponceroff.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife Sheila Lee Stewart Landis, grandson, T.J. Werdebaugh, and brothers, John, French, Orville, Robert, and Dick Landis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Frank’s memory to Reynoldsville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 136 Reynoldsville, WV 26422.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover from 4-7 pm Thursday and on Friday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service with Pastor Jon Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery with graveside military honors conferred by the Westover VFW Post # 9916 and the WVANG military funeral honors.
