Obituary of Peter Sasine Saab
Peter Sasine Saab, age 92, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2017, surrounded by his family at Point Manor Personal Care Home.
Born January 14, 1925, in Wallace, WV, son of the late Kicer M. and Annie K. Eddé Saab. Pete graduated from Wallace High School as valedictorian in 1942. He attended WVU before entering the U.S. Army Air Forces in 1943 as Technical Sergeant, where he traveled to Egypt, Italy, his home country Lebanon, and many other places as he served his country until 1945.
After returning from the service, he attended Morgantown Business College until 1948. He utilized his accounting and business education while employed at Morgantown Lock and Dam, Sterling Faucet, and Chico Dairy Company. He worked at Chico Dairy for 34 years until his retirement in 1993.
Pete was a 50+ year member of the Knights of Columbus, where he enjoyed the comradery of his fellow knights and participated in many philanthropic events throughout the years. He was a past Grand Knight.
His love for music and singing began years ago when he and his late wife, Joan, sang together in the St. Theresa’s church choir. They enjoyed harmonizing together, singing musicals, and watching Lawrence Welk. Pete was also known for singing the "Alphabet Song" to his grandchildren and many others that he encountered.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Joan Saab (2005); his son Timothy Saab (2013); brother Paul Saab; sister Cecilia Alexander; brothers-in-law John Alexander, Vince Mancinelli, John Yurkovich, and Bill Lodge; and sisters-in-law Julia Yurkovich and Pauline Lodge.
He is survived by his children Paula Heben, and her husband Erik, of Florida; Michael, and his wife Tammy; Brenda Colasante, and her husband Nick; daughter-in-law Joy Saab; and sisters Blanche Saab and Agnes Mancinelli, all of Morgantown.
He was affectionately known as "Ampa" to his nine grandchildren who were his "Pride and Joy" Regina Scott (Matt), David and Steven Saab (Madison), Andrew and Matthew Saab, Alli and Nicolas Colasante, Peyton and Preston Heben, and great granddaughter, Luisa Scott.
Pete will be sorely missed by his family and friends and all with whom he shared his love, laughter, and gift of song.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff members of Point Manor and Amedisys for their thoughtful care and support.

Friends and family will be received at St. John University Parish Center 1481 University Ave, Morgantown, WV 26505 on Thursday, December 21 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a vigil service scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue in St. John University Parish Church on Friday, December 22 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial by Fr. Walt Jagela. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery with full military honors conferred by Westover VFW #9916 and WVANG Military Honors, Camp Dawson. McCulla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
