Obituary of Joan Shortall Huber
Joan Shortall Huber, 68, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Madison Rehab Center. Joan was born in in Pasadena, MD on January 23, 1949, a daughter of the late Kitty and John Shortall.
Joan grew up in Pasadena, MD where she attended St. Jane Elementary School and graduated from Archbishop Spalding High School in 1967. Joan graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing in 1970 and earned a Bachelor of Science from St. Joseph’s College in 1986. She worked as an Emergency Room Nurse for many years. She and her husband, Stanford, traveled with the Air Force living in San Antonio, TX, Birmingham, AL, and Mountain Home, ID. They later settled in Morgantown where they raised their children. Joan worked as a Registered Nurse in her husband’s Pain Management Practice and for West Virginia University in the Pain Clinic until her surgery and stroke in October 2016.
Joan is survived by her husband, Stanford Huber M.D.; sons, Nicholas Huber, William Huber, John Huber and wife Charity, and David Boone; sister, Kay Beasley and husband David; nieces, Karen Beasley, M.D. and husband John and Kimberly Beasley; grandnephews, Jeremy and Anderson Broersma; grandnieces, Kaleigh and Chloe Holtzman; grandson, Tyler Huber; granddaughters, Rebecca, Jessica, and Taylor Huber and Sydney and Andie Boone; and great granddaughter, Ireland Mae.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Huber.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Jennifer Huber Scholarship Fund, c/o St. Paul Lutheran Church at 309 Baldwin St. Morgantown, WV 26505.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home on Thursday, October 26, from 3-7pm. In honoring Joan’s wishes, McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation services and inurnment will take place at a later date. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McCulla.com
