Obituary of Richard F. Moore

Richard Franklin “Dick” Moore age 84 of Westover passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 at his home.  Dick was born January 10, 1933 in Morgantown, a son of the late Stanley Moore and Agnes Spence Moore.

Richard retired from WVU after working as an Architectural Draftsman and Supervisor.

Dick was a graduate of Morgantown High School where he was active in sports and played trumpet in the MHS Band.  In his later years, he became an avid golfer and won many championships at local golf clubs.  He also enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing with his son, brother, grandsons, other family members and friends.  He was an active participant in youth sports, coaching both softball and baseball and was an avid Mountaineer sports fan.  His greatest joys were the many family gatherings at his home and at his cabin in Bruceton Mills with his brother, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family and friends.

Dick is survived by his daughters, Diane Moore Weaver of Fairmont, Sharon (Jimmy Jr.) Finley of Wilmington, NC,  and Kathleen Morabito of Largo, FL; his brother, Gary Moore of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Richard Michael (Melissa) Weaver, Stephanie (Matt) Kee, Stanley (Kenzie) Moore, Jared (Courtney) Moore, Jimmy Finley III, and Matthew Finley; great grandchildren, Kaden, Blake, and Reed Weaver, and Kayla Kee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Donna Davis Moore; and a son, Stanley Moore.

Dick never met a stranger and loved to joke and laugh with everyone.  He was loved and admired by many and will be deeply missed.

Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road on Monday, August 21 from 4-7 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Source Lunchbox Program, Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church, 540 Fairmont Rd., Westover, WV  26501.
