William Charles Rafus, 89, of Morgantown passed away at his home on April 15, 2017. William was born in Greer, WV on June 7, 1927 to the late Andrew Rafus and Veronica Kendrella Rafus. William proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean War in the Marine Corps. Mr. Rafus was an automobile body repairman and took great pride in his work. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, camping, and travelling. He and his late wife, Emma Louise Rafus, were both members of St. John’s Univeristy Catholic Parish. William is survived by his sons: William Douglas Rafus and his wife Myra of Weston, FL and Glenn Anthony Rafus and his wife Christina of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren Naomi, Jennifer, and Samantha; great-granddaughters Kimberly and Anya; sister Frances A. Raven; and brothers Frank Rafus and Andrew Rafus, Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his sisters: Catherine Dwyer, Josephine Humphrey, Mary McCrohan, Anna Steiner, Victoria Marsack, and Agnes Babich; and his brother Joseph Rafus. Friends are invited to gather in support of the family on Saturday, April 22nd from 10 until the 11 am memorial mass service at St. John’s Catholic Church with funeral liturgy accorded by Father Justin Blanc. Following the service, inurnment will follow at St. Mary’s Peace Mausoleum with full military honors conferred by United States Marine Funeral Honor Guard and Westover VFW #9916.
