Obituary of Pearl Jean Swiger

Pearl Jean (Harris) Wilson Swiger, 88, of Morgantown passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Mon General Hospital. Jean was born in Newburg, WV on January 29, 1929 to the late Alonzo Harris and Dessie McGinnis Harris. Pearl worked at both Hopemont Hospital and Preston Memorial Hospital as well as Romney School for the Blind. She attended Victory Baptist Church in West Union and loved to quilt. She also enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting. Pearl is survived by her daughter, Betty Jean (Wilson) Mankins and husband Richard of Morgantown; granddaughter, Belinda Jean (Mankins) Beers and husband Richard of Westover; brother, Franklin Harris and friend Sharon; sisters, Monalea (Harris) Mayne and husband “Doc” and Martha (Harris) Bulford and husband Franklin; and Charlotte Kay (Wilson) McCabe and her daughter Melissa (McCabe) Comstock and her husband “Oz” along with their daughter, Alyssa of Kingwood. Jean is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, Dewey Webster Wilson; her second husband, Anthony Richard Swiger; son, Charles Webster Wilson; and several brothers and sisters. Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home on Sunday, March 5, from 5-8 pm and also on Monday from 9 am until the 10 am funeral service with Pastor Roger Harris officiating. Burial will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McCulla.com
