Eugene D. “Gene” Powley age 85 of Westover passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at his home. He was born July 23, 1931 in Pursglove a son of the late Arley Duard Powley and Mamie Mary J. Lotwis Powley.
Gene was the owner of Westover TV Sales and Service for forty years retiring in 1995. He proudly served with the United States Army during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Westover VFW Post # 9916. Gene was a faithful member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, was a charter member of the Pines Country Club, a member of the Westside Senior Center, and was an avid golfer.
Gene is survived by his wife of 62 years Connie Cheslock Powley, his two daughters, Denise Triplett and husband Jack and Radine Gibson and husband Ed all of Morgantown, one son, Tim Powley and wife Toni of Austin, TX, grandchildren, Justin Triplett, Dylan Triplett and wife Lacee, Dayne Gibson, and Eden Gibson and great grandchild, Taylen Triplett, and one brother, Kenneth Powley of Prince Frederick, MD.
Gene was preceded in death by one sister, Arlene Powley and one brother, Alvin Powley.
The family will receive friends at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Morgantown from 3-5 & 7-9 pm Thursday and at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church on Friday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati, STD, VE as celebrant. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery with graveside military honors conferred by the Westover VFW Post # 9916 and the WVANG Funeral Honors.
