Lawrence (Larry) Edward Bowser age 69, of Star City passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born May 5, 1947 in Mt. Morris, PA a son of the late Lawrence Bowser and Elizabeth Sollars Bowser. Larry was a graduate of University High School, a Vietnam veteran serving with the United States Marine Corps, and a retired coal miner. Larry was very patriotic and active in military organizations. He was a member of the General Earl Anderson Chapter #342 Marine Corps League, the Mt. Morris American Legion Post 992 and the Westover VFW Post # 9916. He was an active participant in military activities and in 2012 was honored as the veteran of the year. Larry also had a passion for antique cars and was a member of several car clubs including the Street Cruisers, Dream Machines, and was founder and president of the University City Car Club until his health declined Larry is survived by his son Larry Bowser and wife Alicia of Morgantown, two grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Brayden and Briella Bowser, his former wife, Barbara Fox, sisters, Fran Headley and husband Warren of Mt. Morris, Martha Tomago and husband Joe of Westover, Wanda Dunbar and husband George of Star City, and Naomi Roupe of Salado, TX, brothers, David Bowser and wife Jackie of Mt. Morris, James Bowser and wife Brenda of Morgantown and Tim Bowser of Morgantown and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. Larry was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Kay Bowser, two sisters, Shirley Fominko and Rose Sampson, and three brothers, Ronald Bowser, Arnold Bowser and Thomas Mark Bowser, brother-in-law Ltc. Lee Roupe, maternal grandparents, Harry & Irene Sollars, paternal grandparents, John & Ona Bowser and paternal step grandmother Heiskell Bowser. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Windy Hill Village and their staff for the loving care and compassion given to Larry. Friends may call from 2-6 pm Sunday at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Morgantown and on Monday at the Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church 540 Fairmont Road from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service with Rev. Kevin Cain and James Sollars officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps Honor guard, the General Earl Anderson Marine Corps League and the Patriot Guard.
