Obituary of Opal Mae Compton

Opal Mae Compton, age 79, of Westover, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 as a result of an automobile accident. Opal was born in Morgantown on January 15, 1937, a daughter of the late George and Virginia Renner.
Opal was employed for many years at House of Cards on High Street. She was an avid Bingo player at the Westover Senior Center and loved going to car shows and bowling. She also enjoyed country music and cheering on the Mountaineers.
Opal is survived by her sons, Jimmy (Sharon) Compton of Westover, Rich (Candy) Compton of Westover, Jerry (Sandy) Compton of MN, and Rodney (Pam) Compton of Cassville; sister, Irene (Bernard) Coulter; grandchildren, Chanel (Joe), Katie (Justin), and Ashley (Bryce); great grandchildren, Gavin, Carter, Maxwell, Lakyn, and Jackson; sister-in-laws, Virginia Walls, Evelyn Sweetnich, and Betty Mullick; brother-in-laws, Bud Ammons, Paul Compton, and Larry Compton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband William “Red” Compton; sisters, Margaret (Tom) Fletcher, Ruth (Bud) Fletcher, and Brenda Ammons; and brother, Bill Walls.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, and on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 10 until the 11 am funeral service with Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at mcculla.com
