Foster DeWhite Feathers, 93, of Westover passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at home.
He was born on June 8, 1923, in Kingwood, son of Bert and Nellie Feathers.
Foster was a World War II Purple Heart veteran serving in the Army 359th Engineer Corps. He was part of the Allied Invasion on Omaha Beach on June 8, 1944, D-Day Plus Two, his 21st birthday.
He was a Foundry Supervisor at Sterling Faucet for over 40 years, later transitioning to Rockwell and Koehler.
Foster is survived by his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Raskell Feathers, daughter, Sharon Hilleary & husband Richard of Morgantown and son, Gary Feathers & wife Susan of Atlanta. Also surviving are grandchildren, Michael Hilleary & wife Tara, Christopher Hilleary, Jennifer Feathers-Diaz and husband David, and Amanda Feathers. He had two great-grandchildren, Madelyn Hilleary and Anthony Diaz. He is also survived by his brother Donald of San Antonio Texas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Victor and Robert Feathers, a sister, Betty Harner, and great grandson, Jackson Hilleary.
The family will receive friends at McCulla Funeral Home from 2 – 6 PM on Friday, August 26. The funeral service will be 10 AM Saturday with Rev. Kevin Cain. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors conferred by the Westover VFW Post #9916 and WVANG, Camp Dawson.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Foster’s memory may be made to Westside Senior Center, 500 DuPont Road, Westover, WV 26501.
