Obituary of Robert L. Powers
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Louis Powers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024, at his lifelong home in Morgantown, WV. Born on September 21, 1937, to Richard and Ella Mary Williams Powers, Robert's life was a testament to the values of hard work, family, and kindness.
Robert leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, most notably to his wife of 68 years, Dolores Carol Powers. Their enduring companionship has been an inspiring pillar of strength and affection in their community. His memory will also be cherished by his daughters, Debra D. McIntosh and Pamela S. Kelley (Jim); his brothers, Richard Powers (Barbara) and Cliff Powers (Phyllis); his treasured grandchildren, Megan Robinson, Craig McIntosh (Maribeth), Robert "Robbie" Kelley, and Andrew Kelley; and the joyous laughter of his great-grandchildren Natalie Robinson, Mason, and Madison McIntosh.
Before his retirement, Robert was a respected contractor, known for his exceptional work ethic and his willingness to mentor the next generation in his trade. He brought the same passion and dedication to his personal interests, including golfing and nurturing his family's moments together.
In later years, Robert and Carol enjoyed many years in Florida throughout the winter, spending time on the golf course.
Throughout his life, Robert's friendly demeanor, generous spirit, and loving nature defined his interactions with everyone he met. Those who had the privilege to know Robert will remember him not only for what he did but for who he was—an indelibly positive influence on his community and all the lives he touched.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Edith Fowler, Betty Crow, and Evelyn Morgan, and his brother Bernard "Skip" Powers and his wife Kay.
Robert's light, although no longer present among us, will continue to shine brightly through the many lives he so positively affected. His memory will be a lasting treasure to his family and friends, perpetuating the legacy of a life well lived.
