Roxie Elizabeth Kelley, aged 60, passed away gently on the morning of March 29, 2024, in her hometown of Morgantown, WV, where she was also born on January 12, 1964 to the late Pete Dawson and Sarah Goff Dawson. She leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and relentless joy that touched the lives of all who knew her. Roxie dedicated her life to the growth and happiness of children, nurturing many young hearts and minds during her tenure at West Virginia University Child Learning Center. Her passion for her profession was rivaled only by the love she had for her family. She is survived by Shawn Kelley, her devoted husband; her children, Sarah Strickler (and her husband, Kevin) of New Jersey, Frank Boyce (and his wife, Kristen), and Wesley Boyce (and his wife, Stephanie), all of Morgantown. Roxie’s warm spirit lives on through her nine grandchildren: Maddie, Brendan, Riley, Kelley, Sophia, Elizabeth, Kennedy, Sydney, and Emily. Roxie was a kind and generous soul who found deep enjoyment in computer video games, always eager to explore new worlds just as she explored the potential in every child she taught. Her gentle guidance and genuine warmth were the embodiment of her character, qualities that earned her the respect and affection of her colleagues and the community. As we remember Roxie Elizabeth Kelley, we celebrate the endearing mark she left on our hearts and the lives she enriched through her kindness and commitment. Her spirit will forever resonate in the lives of those she loved and served.
