Richard Keith “Chip” Buck passed away suddenly, Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at the family lake house doing what he loved. Chip was born July 22, 1961 in Fort Worth, TX a son of Sally McIlwain Buck of PA and the late Dr. Keith K. Buck. Chip realized at a young age that music was his passion and loved teaching and fostering the love of music to his students. Chip served 35 years as a band director in Monongalia County, spending most of the time at Westwood Middle school. Chip started the Panhandler Steel drum band at Westwood which was the first middle school steel drum band in WV and was well known for the bands annual pig roast. Chip was a member of St Francis de Sales Catholic Church and was the drummer for the bands “Queen City Funk & Soul” and “Steel Groovin’”. Chip led an active life and enjoyed going out on the lake, snow skiing, playing golf and being outside cutting grass. Chip enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. In addition to his mother, Chip is survived by his wife of 35 years, Stephanie Lojewski Buck, two sons, Zachary Buck (Olesya) and Matthew Buck (Elizabeth) all of Morgantown, one daughter, Emily Buck James (Adam) of Morgantown, two sisters, Beth Satterfield (Dave) of Morgantown and Holly Visnesky (John) of Pittsburgh, grandchildren, Levi Lyndon Buck and Luke Richard James, sister-in-law, Nanette Gaspar (Mike) of Morgantown and brother-in-law John Lojewski (Annette) of Morgantown, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Chip was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, John and Shirley Lojewski. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Save the Music Foundation at P.O. Box 2096 New York, NY 10108-2096 or American Diabetes Association at P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023. Friends may call at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane Morgantown on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 2-4 & 5-8 pm with a Christian Wake service at 7:30 pm held to conclude visitation. Friends may also call on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial with Monsignor Anthony Cincinnati as celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Peace Mausoleum. The funeral services will be live streamed on St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church's Facebook and the church's website.
