Over the years I have a lot of great memories with Timmy. Out of those there are few that really stand out. I knew when Timmy was very young that he was going to be a car guy. One day when I was at Grammy and Papaps' house and Timmy was about 3 or 4, he saw me working on my car in the driveway and decided he was going to help me when I took an indoor break. I looked out the window and he had a 2x4, a nail and a hammer just to make it a little more solid (in his mind). I was able to get outside and let him know that wasn't quite the kind of help that I needed.
There was another time I was working on my car (same situation) and it was a really hot day. I had to get under the car to tighten up an emergency brake line so I set my beer down so that I could get under it to tighten the brake line. When I got back from under the car, Timmy was sitting in the same spot with a really big smile on his face and when I grabbed my beer, I knew why he was smiling. That beer can was completely empty and by this time, Timmy had started giggling. My first thought was to laugh and then I thought Susie is going to kill me. But in the end, Susie laughed just as hard as I did.
When Timmy was in High School, I was surprised one day while I was on duty at the South High Street Fire Station when Timmy came running in the door and said "Hey Uncle Rick." "I need to borrow twenty bucks real quick." I asked Tim what was going on. He said "I gotta hurry." "I'll give it back to you in a little bit." I gave him the twenty dollars and he left. A few hours later he came back not only with my twenty dollars but a few extra twenties in his hand too. I couldn't help but be curious, so I asked him "Where did you get the extra money?" He said I knew a guy who had four tires for sale for twenty bucks. And I knew another guy who needed to buy four tires, so I sold him those four tires for eighty bucks.
That young man has been a businessman and making money his whole life. I could probably tell a few more great stories, but, I will save those until we all get together.
We will miss ya Ymmit!!
