Obituary of Carrie Bates

Please share a memory of Carrie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carrie Bates, 58, of Morgantown, WV, passed away from complications of cancer-related sepsis on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Mon Health Medical Center. She was born in Baltimore County, Maryland, on April 3, 1964, the daughter of Pete Pasta and the late Adella Pasta. Carrie lived an extraordinary and eventful life, a book that would’ve been a best seller if written. She was diagnosed with Stage IV Cancer in late October 2022 and immediately stood strong to fight with everything she had. Carrie did not know a stranger and if you were lucky enough to call her your friend, you were loved and cared for no matter what. She was outgoing, driven, and always there for anyone who needed her. Carrie loved riding her motorcycle and her family and wished she could spend more time riding and making more memories with those she loved. She was at the pinnacle of her work career and worked tirelessly to provide a better life for her family until the very end. She was the rock, glue, and foundation of her family and she is terribly and deeply missed. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Ira Bates, Jr., her daughter, Nikki Bates and husband Scott Goldsborough, five grandchildren; Evelyn Gazsi, Paiden Goldsborough, Coleston Goldsborough, Damion Freeman, Randal Freeman; one great-grandson, Xayne, her mother-in-law, Ruby Bates, brothers Scott Bregman, Brian Bregman, Marc Bregman, Aunt Bea Stoney, several nieces and nephews, cousins, as well as many other family members she recently reconnected with. She is preceded in death by her mother, Adella Pasta. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to her company and second family, ASTAR, and specifically Rick Hedrick, for his immeasurable support and gracious assistance during this most heartbreaking and difficult time. In line with Carrie’s wishes, the family has proceeded with direct cremation and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date to be announced by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to assist in memorial services by placing a donation to https://gofund.me/63b00435 Cremation services have been provided by McCulla Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mcculla.com.
