Obituary of Karen Sue Duley

Karen Sue Duley, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, 59 of Morgantown, WV lost her courageous battle with lung cancer on October 09, 2017 at Mon General Hospital.

Karen was born in Morgantown on April 25, 1958 to Duane L. and the late Thelma Cale Taylor.  She attended Morgantown High School.  She worked as a store manager at Subway for several years on Chestnut Ridge Road and most recently worked as a retention specialist for the Dominion Post. 

Karen always loved vacations to the beach and cherished every moment she got to spend with her grandchildren.

Karen adored playing games of all types. She and her late mother shared the love of traveling to play bingo many nights of the week. She treasured golfing with her husband and family game night, especially playing cards. She also enjoyed many years of bowling and the friendships she built throughout the years.

Karen is survived by husband of 41 years, Joseph M. Duley ;Son Chief Petty Officer, Kevin M. and daughter-in-law Tonya Duley of Suffolk, VA, daughter Angela N. Duley and boyfriend Sean Burner of Pittsburgh, PA; beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Alexis and Brandon Duley of Suffolk, VA; brothers John Wayne and wife Kathy Cale of Washington, PA, Duane R. and wife Sherrie Taylor and James F. Taylor of Morgantown; Father and mother-in-law Alton and Ruth Duley. brother-in-law Michael A. and wife Pauline Emerson of Milford, OH. sister-in-laws by marriage, but sisters by heart, Robin and husband Jim Perry of Abingdon, VA, Debra Christopher of Bruceton Mills and fiancé Gary Smith of Romney, Tricia and husband Richard Goodwin of Morgantown; four nephews and seven nieces that held a very special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her mother Thelma Cale Taylor and granddaughter Angel Marie Duley.

Visitation will be held at McCulla Funeral Home on Thursday, October 12th from 4-8 pm and again on Friday, October 13th from 10 until the 11 am funeral service with Nazarene Pastors Chad Harvey and Gary Smith officiating of Little Sandy and Romney, respectively.  Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown, WV. 

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the Mon General and Morgantown Amedisys Hospice nurses who offered kindhearted care during Karen’s cancer journey. 

Karen will truly be remembered for her infectious laugh and determined personality.  She fought the good fight here on earth and will be saving a place for her loved ones in heaven.    

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Karen’s memory to McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Rd. Morgantown, WV 26501 to help with funeral expenses.
