Obituary of Charles Raymond Hudson
Charles Raymond Hudson, age 93 of Morgantown went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 19, 2017 at his home. He was born August 11, 1923 in Charleston, WV a son of the late Ray and Louise Owen Hudson.
Charles was a Navy Veteran of World War II, serving on the ships, USS Wasp, Huntington and Croatian, and was a member of the Riverside Apostolic Church. Following his military service, Charles worked for Union Carbide in South Charleston for over twenty years where he was known as “Red”. He then became a building contractor in West Virginia and Indiana where he built over twenty homes.
Charles was also a Real Estate Broker and Owner of Town & Country Estates Realty from 1978-1983 and retired in 1993 from apartment management.
Charles loved golfing and enjoyed his roses. He also loved to bake with his favorite being chocolate chip cookies and bread.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Diana Fawn Hudson of Morgantown; daughter-in-law Brenda Hudson of Morgantown; one brother, Donald Hudson of Charleston, WV; two grandsons, Nathaniel Hudson and wife Candace of Morgantown and Derek Hudson and wife Raeanna of Atlanta, GA.; and great grandchildren, Chandler Hudson and wife LeeAna, Emma Grace Hudson and Gauge Michael Hudson.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret M. Hudson; his son, Bishop David M. Hudson, and two brothers, Robert Hudson and William “Bill” Hudson.
Friends may call at the Riverside Apostolic Church, 336 Dents Run Blvd from 3-8 pm Wednesday and on Thursday from 11:00 am until the 12:00 pm noon funeral service with Pastor Nathaniel Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery with graveside military honors conferred by the Westover VFW Post # 9916 and the United States Navy Honor Guard.
